Approved packaging for Lithium Batteries

We work with corrugated cardboard for our approvals, making them ecological and facilitating their handling, and thus being able to avoid the use of the pallet in the installation of the batteries.
Possibilities of Approval from combined 4G packaging, it can be 50G Large Packaging for batteries of more than 200 kg.

Classification of Lithium in the ADR

Lithium batteries are included in the class 9 type of Dangerous Goods, with a classification of packaging group II and III for their dangerousness.

Packaging for All Battery Life Cycles

In Alfilpack we develop and manufacture the approved packaging necessary to cover all stages of battery life. Our team of professionals will guide you to find the right packaging for any lithium related product: be it whole batteries, equipment with batteries, rechargeable or single-use batteries etc.

Battery Identification

Identification of which batteries and cells must have approved packaging.

BATTERIES:

  • Lithium Ion: when the total capacity of all lithium ion batteries contained in the battery exceeds 100 Wh
  • Lithium Metal: The total amount of lithium in all lithium metal batteries contained in the battery exceeds 2g

CELLS:

  • Lithium Ion: In a cell the nominal capacity in watt hours exceeds 10 Wh
  • Lithium metal: If each lithium metal or lithium alloy cell has a lithium content of more than 1 g

Secondary Packaging

We design and develop packaging for the collection and subsequent reconditioning of batteries to promote the circular economy and give a second life to the batteries.

There are different energy needs that can be covered by batteries, for example for acceleration and power in the case of the automotive industry. When the properties of the batteries diminish and they cannot produce that acceleration, they can be at up to 80% of their capacity, a reason why a use like second life of batteries for systems of power storage is favoured. In Adrexplo we manufacture the packaging required for the collection and reconditioning of these batteries.

Packaging for defective batteries

We design and develop approved packaging when a battery is identified as defective or damaged by any of the following cases:
  • Batteries or cells identified as defective for safety reasons
  • Batteries or cells that have leaked
  • Batteries or cells that cannot have diagnostics before transport
  • Batteries or cells have suffered physical or mechanical damage.

These batteries must be in approved packaging suitable for removal, with
appropriate measures to prevent the effects of vibrations and shocks and for
any movement of the batteries inside the package that may cause damage during transport.

Battery Recycling

We design and develop packaging for the collection and subsequent recycling of batteries.
